GIRSA, which means “young girls” in Irish, is a group of seven young women from Pearl River, NY. 8 years in the making, GIRSA is a fusion of the traditional music of Ireland and modern folk music. The girls play a number of instruments, including the fiddle, accordion, guitar, tin whistle, piano, bodhran, banjo, and mandolin. To round off their musical expertise, 4 of the girls also sing. Since the debut of their first self-titled album, which was met with great reviews, they released a second album “A Sweeter Place,” which has also been highly acclaimed. Although all of the ladies are focusing on their studies and attending various colleges, they’ve managed to work around their schedules to tour. They have performed at some of the largest Irish Music festivals in the US, including the Milwaukee, Dublin, and Kansas City Irish Fests. They are having an amazing time and can’t wait to see what lies ahead for GIRSA!
